A Day with Dad: How to Celebrate Father’s Day in Central Florida

Mom had her day in May, now it’s all about dad! If you find yourself celebrating Father’s Day in Central Florida this year, look no further than this article to find your best bets for a fabulous day with dad. Here are our favorite ideas for spending a day with dad during your next Orlando-area vacation.

Have a Ball Together

The Orlando area offers much more than theme parks. There are plenty of sports and entertainment options such as “Orlando’s home for legendary sports and entertainment experiences,” Amway Center. Amway is home to the Orlando Magic during basketball season and is the host of more than 225 events annually, including arena football during the summer months. Catch a game with dad by checking out the calendar to see what’s happening when you’re in town. Just down the street, at Exploria Stadium you’ll find the Orlando City Soccer Club and the Orlando Pride. This stadium is home to teams from Major League Soccer, the National Women’s Soccer League, and the United Soccer League and has games going on throughout June. Over at Camping World Stadium, you’ll be treated to everything from monster truck rallies to high-profile concerts. This summer the stadium will be the venue for ‘80s rock legends Def Leppard and Motley Crue, offering a one-of-a-kind throwback evening for you and dad.

Bond over Brews

For a low-key day with dad, head over to NBC Sports Grill and Brew at Universal CityWalk and take in a game while partaking in tasty bites and beverages. The restaurant features a laid-back atmosphere and nearly 100 high-definition screens for your viewing pleasure. Or check out Orlando’s famed International Drive where you’ll find BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Lousiana-inspired Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux (co-owned by Drew Brees), fun and games at Dave and Buster’s, and many other unique dining options.

Tickle Your Tastebuds

If dad is more likely to be found fine dining than manning the grill, an afternoon at Epcot’s amazing International Flower and Garden Festival may be just the ticket for him. The annual festival consists of a collection of outdoor kitchens each serving up springtime-themed plates with that added Disney flair. This year, the event runs from March 2 through July 4, so it will be in full swing for Father’s Day. Beyond tickling your tastebuds, you and dad can take in gorgeous floral displays and the classic Epcot attractions. Consider ending the day with a reservation at one of the park’s many full-service restaurants. Best of all, this unique event is included with regular Epcot park admission.

After a fun-filled day with dad, get some rest at a nearby full-service resort. Marriott Orlando offers area options including Residence Inn by Marriott Orlando at SeaWorld, and TownePlace Suites by Marriott Orlando Lake Buena Vista. If you dine on International Drive, consider lodging at Aloft Orlando International Drive, Comfort Inn International, Element Orlando International Drive, or Best Western International Drive. Other great recommendations are Wyndham Orlando Resort & Conference Center/Celebration, Staybridge Suites Orlando Royale Parc, and Fairfield Inn Orlando Airport. Â
